Skirt Overhaul

Raise your hand if you're suddenly trying to overhaul your entire closet to put together suitable work outfits for fall? That can't be just me. I've been on the hunt for dark colored casual-but-not-mini skirts to wear with booties or opaque black tights this fall, and I think I hit the jackpot when I happened to start perusing Forever 21's website. We're talking dirt. cheap. It's going to be pencil skirts for days yo. Which brings me to my weirdly named, but mathematically appropriate, "19, 20, 21" post today:

Weekday Wishlist: Clutches

Now that we're in summer's warm embrace and my outfit choices are based largely on "how can I have the least amount of fabric touching my body and still get away with it", it feels like time to stop lugging around such hot and heavy giant leather tote bags and switch to clutches. I especially love envelope clutches and decided to stock up on them for this summer.

About an hour into my search, I realized Hot damn! Clutches are expensive!

I don't know about you, but while I'm willing to pay big bucks for my giant MK leather bag that I'll carry for years, when it comes to clutches, I'm looking to spend a lot less so that I can purchase a few different trendy styles to match with my outfits. Whether you're looking for solid, floral, geometric or monogrammed, here are my top picks for clutches under $60 that are available online now:

In kate spade nordstrom south by soho spring summer Tory Burch weekday wishlist white

Weekday Wishlist: light and bright

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

Happy Almost-Memorial Day! Now that white is officially a fashion-do, all white ensembles are gearing up to be the hot thing this summer. If you want to infuse a bit of color into such a neutral palette, I'm loving blush pink and carolina blue (go Tar Heels) lately, especially in this season's uber-popular midi skirt. Also worth mentioning: the Tory Burch Robinson Satchel is more than $150 off right now... It's still almost $400 but, I mean, look at it. I'm weak in the knees. Be still my beating heart... Or someone please gift this to me before its gone forever. I'd write more but I'm off to a wedding in the beautiful mountains of western Maryland! More to come soon!

Ashley

Tory Burch Sale

(aka whaaat??)

If you are a semi-starving artist who covets Tory Burch, you know that Tory is NOT one for sales. So if you've been waiting and waiting for a reason to finally buy that bag or those shoes, jump on this. The 'Friends & Fans' Sale goes through this Monday and gets you 25% off with the code FRIENDLY.

Click on the pics below to check out what pieces I'm itching for:
Image Map
1. Robinson Open Dome Satchel // WHITE PURSES! So crisp, clean and classy for spring and summer. This beautiful bag is $550 but $416 with the sale (if that helps you justify it).

2. Viv Flats // Two-tone d'orsay flats with cute gold Tory Burch emblem on the side. Sold.

3. Ella Neoprene Tote (Orange) // I've been eyeing this in Bloomie's for a while now. It's actually more neon than the picture looks & it would fit everything I could hope to cart around the city this summer.

4. Veronique Short // So beachy! Anything that reminds me of Greece is automatically on my wishlist.

5. Double Wrap Logo Bracelet // A classic.

6. Audra Sandal // My what a lovely navy sandal... wait it has a block heel wrapped in intricate cut-out gold plate?? Classic with a twist is the name of the game when it comes to my shopping wishlist.

7. Lace Perforated Ring // Loving this chunky yet still delicate gold ring.

8. Ella Neoprene Tote (Pink) // Yeah... this is the same as #3. Neon pink vs. neon orange? I can't decide. That's how much I LOVE this bag. Originally $225, now $168.75

Happy Shopping!

Weekday Wishlist: Spring is Sprung

1. Tory Burch 'Kaley' Dress // I have been in LOVE with this dress since I saw it on Pink Peonies blog the other day. Normally I wouldn't spend so much money on a seasonal dress, but it's just been marked down from $400 to $237.... stay strong, Ashley, stay strong!

2. J. Crew Camden Jeweled Sandals // These sandals are popping up on fashion blogs all over the place. They're perfect to pair with a cute sundress or to add a bit of sparkle to boyfriend jeans and a tee. And J. Crew has been having a surprising number of sales this season... right now spring styles are 30% off on their website.

3. Topshop Red Basic Longline Bikini // I'M SO EXCITED FOR VINTAGE-STYLE BIKINIS. I love a good vintage throw back, and Topshop has a whole line of these babies in cute floral/fruity prints and basic solids, and $50 total for a swimsuit is dirt cheap these days. I'm definitely buying this red one for my Fourth of July lake trip this summer!

4. Essie Nail Polish in 'Go Ginza' // My friend Caitlin over at Southern Curls and Pearls (hands-down my favorite fashion blog that I follow btw...) has been wearing this nail polish for a few weeks and has been getting SO many compliments and desperate comments asking what the color is (I might be included in this desperate comment mayhem...). It's a beautiful pale pinky-purple and is my new favorite pastel nail for spring. Buying it immediately. You should too, I swear it's worth it.

5. Freebird Rolling Buckle Boot // The best versatile spring bootie I've seen in a while. A rich tan distressed leather with a stacked heel and cute cutouts to keep them feeling light enough for spring and summer.

6. Anthropologie Etruscan Petal Earrings // I really like the color combo on these earrings. It's a nice mix that could pair well with primary or pastel colors. Oh, and that bit of red would go nicely with my new dream swimsuit...

7. Madewell Transport Tote // I love a basic brown leather tote for spring. This one would be very VERY cute with a little gold monogram on the top too... I'm imagining shopping at the Union Square farmer's market and filling it with #8...

8. Ranunculus Flowers // Can I please take a moment to admit that I am weirdly excited about ranunculus flowers, despite the fact that they ryhme so closely with 'ridonkulous' (remember when that was a word kids?). They are such a beautiful, delicate flower for spring, and look great in little bud vases all over my apartment. They're also shockingly expensive. But it turns out they are a relatively easy bulb to plant, and the savings are huge (compare $20 for a small bouquet with $4.95 for 20 bulbs on Amazon). Just plant the bulbs in direct sunlight and Voilà! The more flowers you snip for your bouquets, the more blooms your ranunculus plants will produce.  I'm planning to pick up some bulbs very soon to plant my April flower garden! Click here to learn more tips for planting them.

Weekday Wishlist: St. Patty's Edition

St. Patrick's Day may be over, but fashion's love affair with the color green is not.
Seafoam, kelly & emerald green are some of my personal faves in my closet, and here are some of the newest greenthings I'm wishing for this week:

1. Bright Beryl Silicone Metro Watch // My Kate Spade love affair continues. This watch would be an easy eye-catcher for lazy days when you don't feel like putting much jewelry on. Plus silicone watchbands are SO comfortable!

2. Neon Pocket Umbrella // I love J. Crew umbrellas! They're the perfect size (without being flimsy) with cute prints and colors, and the wooden handle is so much classier than the plastic ones you see everywhere else.

3. Organic Green Playlist Stacking Rings // Madewell makes the best affordable ring combos ever. Hands down.

4. LOFT Tab Collar Utility Blouse // Flowy blouses are my every day go-to for work. This one is in the color "crisp seafoam" which, being a huge sucker for seafoam, makes me want it all the more.

5. Green Midi Skater Skirt // As a shorter woman, I normally avoid mid-calf length dresses, but I think I'm ready to take the plunge into midi skirts. I love the full-skirt style, just give me some point toed pumps and I'll be good to go!

6. Colorblock leather pouch // This adorable J. Crew pouch would be perfect to help keep a large purse in order. Plus the color combo is called "mint seaglass." Apparently I'm now choosing everything the way I choose my nailpolish: mostly based on clever names.

7. Succulents // OBSESSED with succulents right now. I've found great deals on them in the floral district in NYC, but if you're not a big apple gal, etsy has some good prices too. I'll be planting them all weekend, so look out for a DIY succulent planting post soon!

8. Lattice Medallion Scarf // Yes kelly green and navy combo! This would look great with navy (while it's still wintery out there) and pop against white come summer.

What's on your weekday wishlist?

Weekday Wishlist: Spring Forward

1. Diana Ploom Drop Earrings // For some reason in winter I tend to be a blinged-out stud-earring type of girl, but once the weather gets nicer I get so excited about large dangly earrings! These awesome art deco looking pieces are from my just-discovered new-favorite-online-jewelry-shop: ILY Couture. Think J.Crew-style jewelry but waaaaay cheaper.

2. Benefit Erase Paste // I'm a sucker for new concealer products. I don't wear foundation, so a good concealer that works for under eye circles and red spots on my skin is key to my makeup routine. I can never seem to be quite satisfied, so I have the bad habit of trying a new concealer every time it's time to restock. This one is next on my list. It's described as a "concentrated, creamy, blendable concealer that instantly brightens and camoflages all-in-one" and has been getting good reviews on other fashion blogs.

3. Untitled&co Sweatshirt //  Yes mom, I know it's not a very ladylike saying, but gosh darn it, the pink floral on this sweatshirt is so cute and I laugh every single time I look at this sweet & sassy combo. This + cropped distressed jeans + patterned pumps would be very cute for a weekend look...

4. Trouvé Leather Sleeve Wool Jacket // This leather jacket would be KILLER for spring in NYC. I'm so ready to pack up my heavy winter jackets and move to lighter coats. This one is really great because of the sleek structure of the leather quilted shoulders and sleeves, but still flows around the body of the coat- similar to, well, almost every blouse I own. ALSO it's 33% off right now on Nordstrom.com

5. Springing Gold Ring Set // Another ILY piece. I like the look of layered rings without actually having to layer them. The set comes in silver or gold (obviously I vote for gold all the way) and it comes with five rings for $26 bucks! You could keep a few for your own fingers and still have a couple to give to friends as a spring (pun definitely intended) gift.

6. Zoya Remove+ Nail Polish Remover // I love painting my fingernails at home. Not only is this nail polish remover said to prep and condition your nails (to help extend the wear of your polish), but it smells like LAVENDER, and has a spill-proof pump dispenser called "the Big Flipper." Goodbye possible-asphyxiation-from-god-awful-fumes and stains on my bed sheets when I accidentally knock over the bottle every single time I do my nails? FINALLY.

7. Waiting on Martha Large Matchboxes // I normally don't splurge on much for myself besides clothing and shoes, but I am gradually learning the art of having really nice candles in my house. These colorful matchboxes would be so cute (and useful) sitting on an end table next to those lovely candles.

8. BCBGeneration Cynthia Vinyl Pumps // I've been lusting after these ever since I tried them on in Macy's months ago. I've been waiting around for one of those giant Macy's sales to buy them, but I may give up and bite the bullet soon. They're under $100 and gorgeous when you put them on. The picture doesn't do them justice.

Weekday Wishlist: Kate Spade Edition

Attention all concerned citizens, there are new arrivals on the Kate Spade website! In honor of their new CAPRI line, here's what I'm wistfully eyeing this week:

1. Lott Street Shiloh // I'm always in need of a new makeup bag, since mine constantly gets smeared with makeup on the inside, no matter how hard I try to keep it clean. Wait, it comes in cobalt blue and navy - two of my favorite colors this season? What could be better.

2. Terra Skirt // Pair it with an airy blouse and a bright pair of pumps - yes please!

3. Sparkle Lemon iPhone5 Case // I'm normally not a blinged-out-phone-case kind of girl. But hot damn Kate Spade, you make it classy.

4. Silver Street "Happy Hour" Flask // Again, Kate makes it classy. A feminine flask to drop in your bag for girls night out.

5. Sala Heels // Kitten heel? Check. Navy? Check. With a bow?? Check. And just a hint of glitter?? Check. Drooling? Check.

6. Cedar Street Maise // How can I magically make all of my accessories neon yellow this spring?

7. Scented Candle "Pretty and Witty" // Pretty and witty make the perfect pair. Actual life motto.

8. Things We Love Coffee Table Book // Bright colors and gorgeous photos. PUT THIS ON MY COFFEE TABLE RIGHT NOW
