In accessories fashion holidays nail art nail polish nails neon NYC nyc pride parade OOTD south by soho SOUTHbySOHO summer what I wore white

Pride

Sunday was the NYC Pride Parade and Manhattan became a magical rainbow-filled land of happiness (unless you were trying to cross 5th Avenue anywhere in the city- best of luck with that). In addition to what I wore, I thought I'd share some snapshots from the day:
Above: a very excited (and sweaty) flower-power child, the Dykes on Bikes motorcycle gang, and the world's greatest feather headdress.

Clockwise from top: the best Delta flight attendant you've never had, some excited-looking pleebs, the world's cutest boys and girls scouts promoting equality for the Boy Scouts of America, and ABS.
There were so many abs kids.

Also above- half the freaking cast of Orange Is The New Black, which makes sense since Laverne Cox was the grand marshal of the parade this year. But that doesn't explain why Poussey was real excitedly pointing at us... no big deal.

TANK: J. CREW + SHORTS: AMERICAN APPAREL + BAG: DOUNEY&BOURKE  VINTAGE THRIFT + SANDALS: AMERICAN EAGLE (old) + MUSTACHE NECKLACE: URBAN OUTFITTERS (sold out, SIMILAR)

NAIL POLISHES: ESSIE (Pastels) + URBAN OUTFITTERS (Bolds) + AMERICAN APPAREL (Neons)

For the parade, I decided to go with an all white ensemble to show off some rainbow accents! (Proof you don't need to own rainbow clothing to dress thematically). This outfit was easily put together by painting my nails in all my favorite shades (I mixed it up with pastels on one hand and brights on the other) and painting rainbow war paint using acrylic paint I already had in my bottomless craft drawer. Face painting tip: if you squirt little dabs of paint on the back of your hand, like I usually do when painting my face, try this tip- rub a bit of lip balm over the back of your hand before squirting your little paint blobs on it, then when you scoop the paint up with your brush, it will get mixed with the balm just a little bit and won't dry out as much or crack on your face. This also coats your hand so wiping the excess paint off is a breeze.

In benevolent jewels blue c wonder clothing cute fashion j crew jewelry nail art nail polish nails NYC OOTD outfit of the day shopping south by soho SOUTHbySOHO spring style blog what I wore

Breezy Blue

This dress is a last season purchase for me, but it's long sleeves and light, sheer material mean it's been an effortless transition from a cold-weather-to-springtime-wear dress. While the dress is billowy and not fitted, it still shows some skin with it's deep v front and sheer upper back and sleeves. And something new I learned after this shoot? When the breeze picks up it looks like it's a romper, which I love! ...And I paired it with a dressier version of my favorite spring shoes - wedges all the way baby.

TOPSHOP DRESS (Last Season; Similar HERE and HERE) + VINCE CAMUTO VARRO WEDGES (Sold Out; Similar HERE, also love THESE for the bow and THESE for the shape) + J Crew Pearl Necklace + Benevolent Jewels Spike Bracelet c/o + RINGS: C Wonder & Forever21

Nail Tip: Nude + Sparkle

Not only are nude nails uber-chic, but they help bring balance to a bright glittery accent nail. I love large glitter nail polish, but it is SUCH a pain to try to remove that I generally try to limit myself to one accent nail per hand, unless I'm feeling extremely zealous.

Pictured above is Urban Outfitters Nail Polish in "LEATHER" and "MIDNIGHT KISS"

Spring Showers

What follows is the account of when a spunky fashion blogger decides the shoot must go on! and coaxes her photographer out into the pouring (POURING) rain with umbrellas in tow. Why the pouring rain does not actually show up in these photos? No clue. Photographer magic I suppose.

Old Navy Blouse (Similar & Love this too) + J. Crew 'Minnie' Pants +
Nude Pumps (Similar) + Umbrella (Similar)

This is such a great go-to outfit for work. These J. Crew slacks are some of my favorite pants and look really cute with pumps or flats. They're very young-professional looking while still being slim and stylish. Pairing with a feminine blouse and statement earrings is a perfect look!

Plus can I say how much I love mixing pastels for springtime?
Mint green blouse + pale blue wallet + lavender nails ♡♡♡

Then, WHAM! hit them with the signature umbrella.
Never settle for a plain umbrella. (Said some smart fashionable woman somewhere).

I'm really loving these new earrings I got from Benevolent Jewels. Such a great discovery of an online jewelry boutique, and they donate a percentage of their profits to philanthropic organizations!

'Frozen Blossom' Earrings + Aldo Chevron Midi Rings (Available in store & SIMILAR HERE) + MK Macrame Pave Bracelet + Kate Spade Wallet + Essie Nail Polish in "full steam ahead"

And we've juuuust finished shooting... oh the rain's finally letting up? Awesome timing.

Something Blue

Blue Silk Top (similar) + VS PINK Leggings (similar) + Coach Boots + Michael Kors Aviators
MK Hamilton Bag + C Wonder Bangle and Spike Cuff (similar) + Forever 21 Rings

Fun Fact: It's about 19° F out in New York this morning... my lips were turning out to
be the 'something blue' in this post by the time we finished hastily snapping these photos!

The gold button detail at the back of these boots are my absolute favorite!

Accessories of the day: C Wonder Bangles + Forever 21 midi rings and spike ring

I love this nail polish color- it took me forever (aka about 8 reject bottles) to find
a light pink that was not too opaque but not too pinky

(Not a giant bruise, just a shadow)
